This is the philosophy that distinguishes PALMSA (Productos a la mano, S.A.,) a distributing company specialized in high-quality medical equipment and orthopedic implants, which additionally offers repair services for the equipment it imports.

The firm entered the Panamanian market seven years ago, being established by Dr. Lionel Jaén, an orthopedic surgeon who, noticing the scarcity of innovative implants for complex and specific surgeries, decided to import said materials himself, through alliances with some of the most avant-garde distributors in the industry.

PALMSA is much more than a distributing company specializing in orthopedic implants. The company boasts a multidisciplinary team which encompasses orthopedic surgeons, surgical technologists, and specialists, many of whom hold graduate degrees in a variety of technical-health specialties, and who assist and advise medical practitioners, both through the pre-and-post sale process, as well as at the operating room, and through the patient’s recuperation process.

PALMSA’s personnel is available 24/7 to offer its products and services throughout Panama, its personnel members having collaborated in implant surgeries at public and private hospitals in the cities of Puerto Armuelles, David, Aguadulce, Chitré, Changuinola, and Panama City’s metropolitan area.

Dr. Lionel Jaén
Received his MD degree from the University of Panama, and specialized in orthopedics and traumatology at the “Complejo Metropolitano” (the main hospital complex of Panama’s social security system.) He also completed fellowships in Florida and in the Spanish cities of Barcelona and Madrid, between 2003 and 2004, after which he practiced at Complejo Metropolitano until 2014. Dr. Jaén currently devotes himself to private practice at Panama City’s Punta Pacifica and Nacional hospitals, and at a rehab clinic in Costa del Este. A strong believer in continuing education, Dr. Jaén participates in international orthopedic and trauma seminars and workshops several times a year.

Betzy Reyes
Ms. Reyes holds a degree in Orthopedic Technology from Universidad Especializada de las Américas (UDELAS,) in addition to a master’s degree in Business Administration from UAM, and 11 years’ experience in medical technology, public bidding, and sales.

Raúl Hinestroza
A professional with 19 years’ experience in the field, Raúl Hinestroza holds a bachelors’ degree in Orthopedic Technology and Traumatology from UDELAS, with studies in Surgical Technology at Universidad de Panamá. He has worked at public and private medical facilities in Panama City, in addition to holding a masters’ degree in Business Administration and High Management.

Rubén Caballero
Professional with vast experience as a Surgical Assistant. He has worked at the Caja de Seguro Social medical complex, and at the Paitilla and Punta Pacífica hospitals in Panama City. Caballero currently works as a surgical and technical assistant at Productos a la Mano, S.A.

Karina Sánchez
The youngest member of the team is a Public Relations student at Universidad de Panamá, with work experience as a general administrative assistant. She currently works as a management analyst at Productos a la Mano, S.A.
